Objective:

Cheat is card shedding game with the element of deception added. The object of the game is to be the first player to discard their last card.

To Deal:

At the beginning of the game the dealer is randomly selected. During the game the deal continues around the table clockwise. The player to the left of the dealer plays first and play continues clockwise around the table.

Cheat uses 1 standard deck of 52-cards. Currently, this is a game for 4 players and 13 cards are dealt to each player.

Game Play:

The player to the dealers left plays first and places 1 thru 4 aces face down on the table and the quantity and value is stated in their player information area, for all the players to see. The first player must play aces, the second player must play 2s, the third player must play 3s, and so on. Aces are played again after kings. All players are required to play when it is their turn whether they have any of the mandatory value of cards or not. If one player believes another player did not play the required cards they can click on their cheat button. If the player did not play the right cards they must pick up the entire pile, but if they did then the player that called cheat must pick up the pile.

Scoring:

There is no scoring.

Winning:

The first player to play their last card wins the game.

But my sister and I and our children, given the opportunity from within a time capsule, might have said to the gentleman, 'It probably didn't hurt her skin one bit that she had a condiment phobia.'

Card-shedding Game Also Called Cheaters

You see, before there were conspicuous vegans, before the era of lactose intolerance and sprue, when the description 'picky eater' referred only to toddlers and children, my mother was famously finicky. I don't mean, If someone served her a hamburger with ketchup, she'd scrape it off and eat it nearly uncontaminated. What I mean is: If some unfortunate hostess put ketchup on the bun, my mother would push the offending plate away, unable to eat the accompanying potato chips, and ask for nothing else, her appetite ruined. And maybe eat a shirred egg when she got home. It was like our mother had a condition. She refused to taste anything that came from the grocery aisle displaying the vinegary and the savory, the relishes, the mustards, the pickles of any kind; the salad dressings, the barbecue sauces, the Tabascos, the Worcestershires or the A.1.'s. We didn't even own them.
